a) By law the title of our profession is "Rechtsanwalt" or "Rechtsanwältin" (lawyer). Due to the fact that the same professional title exists on other German-speaking countries that are members of the European Union, we explicitly draw attention to the fact that we are "Rechtsanwälte" according to the law of the Federal Republic of Germany.

b) As German lawyers, we are subject to the following rules and regulations of our profession:

Bundesrechtsanwaltsordnung (Federal Lawyers' Code),
Berufsordnung der Rechtsanwälte (Professional Code of Conduct for Lawyers),
Fachanwaltsordnung, (Specialist Lawyers' Code),
Rechtsanwaltsvergütungsgesetz. (Act on Lawyers' Fees).

The "Rules and Regulations of the Profession of Lawyer in the European Union" apply in the international arena.

The "Law Regulating the Activity of European Lawyers in Germany" applies to foreign lawyers (CCBE professional rules).
